American Idol Recap: Elimination Night

by guest bloggers Becky and Bethany

They’re dropping like flies on American Idol.

Last night, four more hopefuls were tossed out the door. We said goodbye to Antonella (Yay!), Jared, Sundance, and Sabrina.

Yes, people, we said Sabrina was sent packing. The only way we can justify this is that maybe Haley has some kind of cult following, that doesn’t mind a lack of singing talent, as long as you look decent and cry a lot.

Frankly, we can’t even begin to understand how Sundance was sent home before Sanjaya. Both have heart. We know that. But, only one could sing well. Sundance was beginning to grow on us. Let’s just hope he can find himself a job back home and maybe a record deal or comedy show.

We know that eventually everyone will have his or her time and there can be only one American Idol. But, unfortunately for us, we must listen to Sanjaya and Haley both butcher another song next week. Can you buy singing talent on eBay?

The highlights of the evening were of course Antonella getting the boot, but also getting to see former Idol winner Carrie Underwood sing and make us (and Simon) proud. Wow. What a voice. That is talent.

All in all, it was a bittersweet evening, folks. Until next week…

I was SO Disappointed that Sabrina went. She was better than Haley, Stephanie, and Gina. Though she doesnt have the power that Melinda and LaKisha have, she deserved top 12, not to mention she was beautiful!!!!

I was surprised that now Idol is going to become a charity, giving money to some kids in Africa and some poor kids here in the south where the effects of Katrina are still pretty evident. Not sure if I trust "Idol" with my charitable contributions - think I'll stick with United Way or Red Cross, as that is their business. It may help a "yawn" season for Idol to become charitable. We'll see.....

I think it is a good thing for AI to do. It may make the judges look a little bit more human especially Simon. This is a boring year, maybe now that we are into the top 12 we will see some drama. It will be interesting to see what the judges say to Sanjaya and Haley next week since they were obviously shocked when those two ended up staying!

Does anyone else think Carrie is too skinny? I'm a huge fan, but I'm starting to think her head is getting bigger as the rest of her is shrinking. Come back to us, Carrie!

She is following the in the footsteps of most girls who are in the music business. Maybe she is jsut loosing weight b/c she is working so hard? It would be nice if she were back to her old "size" but she is in the limelight now. I still love her regardless!

I want to give her a sandwich! Unfortunately, being an "American Idol" means being a size 2 apparently.
