Joshua Jackson on cover of TV Guide

I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Pacey Witter, er, Joshua Jackson (sorry.) Therefore, I feel the need to inform you of any and all news about Jackson.

Every now and then I regress back to my ‘90s TV obsession, Dawson’s Creek, and call JacksonPacey,” even though the show has been off the air for years, and he’s now playing a new character on Fringe, quite different from the kid I fell for on the Creek.

If you’re a Jackson fan, you don’t want to miss the October 16 issue of TV Guide. See the photo for evidence as to why.

Jackson and his new Fringe co-star Anna Torv are featured in a cover story that examines the new J.J. Abrams cult show Fringe on FOX.

So, if you haven’t seen the show, at least check out the story for an update on Jackson. Who knows? You may just find yourself tuning in to see how “Pacey” matured. I bet Dawson already has his copy.

First look: Fringe trailer

I know it’s early to be talking about new fall shows, but I’m so excited about this one that I have to share.

Fringe is the new mysterious sci-fi show debuting on FOX this fall. The man behind Fringe is J.J. Abrams, who was responsible for my beloved Felicity and what I consider the best two hours of television, ever: the Lost pilot.

Even better is that Abrams hired one of my all-time favorite leading men to headline the show: my longtime TV crush, Joshua Jackson. (Mock if you must.)

Here’s a link to a first look at the pilot or just hit play below. Check it out. It looks deliciously good, no? I’ll have more information on the show’s debut date and time when the information becomes available.

Joshua Jackson to star in new FOX show

Because my love for Pacey Witter knows no bounds, I feel compelled to update you on any and all Joshua Jackson news. (Yes, I know it’s not 1998.)

Jackson has signed on for the new J.J. Abrams pilot for FOX, titled Fringe, according to TV Guide. Jackson will play Peter Bishop, a high-school dropout and gambling addict with an IQ of 190. He’ll work with a female federal officer (actress Anna Torv) to investigate unexplained phenomena.

I’m downright giddy that Jackson has teamed with Abrams. After all, Abrams brought us two of my all-time favorite shows: Felicity and Lost. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for Pacey, er, Peter.

Joshua Jackson’s Grey’s Anatomy role on hold

This writers’ strike is claiming more casualties every day. Add Joshua Jackson to the list.

Jackson was scheduled to join Grey’s Anatomy as a guest star for several episodes, (as reported here a few weeks ago.) Now, his appearance is on hold “indefinitely” according to TV Guide.

Sad news indeed. I was so looking forward to Jackson roaming the halls of Seattle Grace, wearing his lab coat and showcasing his charming, um…sarcasm. Yeah, sarcasm.

The real shocker in this story isn’t that Jackson’ s appearance is on hold; it’s who he was going to be romantically paired with. You’d better sit down for this.

Cristina Yang was about to become one lucky gal. Burke who? Jackson was going to be involved with Sandra Oh's character, according to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello.

It just seems wrong, doesn’t it? I can’t see him with Cristina. If it were Meredith, I could understand. She gets drunk and does stupid things,(and sometimes her co-workers.) I could also see him paired with Izzie. She’s slowly working her way through the male doctors on staff, so why not the new guy? If I had to choose his female companion though, I’d say pair him with Callie. She’s newly single and deserves to show George that she can score a hottie, too.

But all this speculation may be futile. If this strike doesn’t end soon, who knows if we’ll ever get to see Jackson in Seattle Grace, let alone showing of his medical “skills” with Cristina.

Joshua Jackson to join Grey’s Anatomy

I’ve dreamed of writing this headline, and now it’s happened. I woke up this morning to read the news at Variety that former Dawson’s Creek cutie, Joshua Jackson, is headed to Grey’s Anatomy as a doctor.

Seriously.

Yep, Pacey in a lab coat. Does it get any better?

Jackson will join the show in episode 11 for a multi-episode arc. Let’s hope it turns in to a permanent gig.

Loyal Tube Talk readers know I’ve been lobbying to get Jackson on Grey’s Anatomy or The Office for years. Does this mean I get a cut of his paycheck?

Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Grey’s Anatomy gets a little McDreamier: Tim Daly guest stars

by Jennifer Squires Biller

Just when you thought the hallways of Seattle Grace couldn’t get any hunkier, Tim Daly checks into the hospital.

Daly is joining Grey’s Anatomy for a special two-hour episode that may become a spinoff, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As previously reported, the spinoff would star sexy, stiletto-clad Dr. Addison Montgomery (actress Kate Walsh) and sexy — minus the stilettos — Taye Diggs.

Daly’s character is described as "handsome, sincere, like a McDreamy," according to The Hollywood Reporter. So, I’m guessing since he’s “sincere,” he’ll be the direct opposite of Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan, who — while certainly handsome — hasn’t exactly been a paragon of morals, sincerity and virtuosity.

Whoever is in charge of this Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, isn’t playing fair. First, they lure us in with one of Grey’s most exciting characters, Addison. Then, they taunt us further with the addition of Diggs. Now, they’ve pretty much sealed the deal that we must watch, by adding the talented and delicious Daly to the mix.

Who’s next? Joshua Jackson? Keri Russell? Rob Lowe? John Stamos? ABC, whomever the casting genius is who’s snagging actors such as Eric Dane, Walsh, Diggs and Daly, they deserve a pay raise. I usually hate spinoffs, but I’m already on board with this one, before it even airs.

Daly hasn’t had the best track record recently, though, when it comes to hit TV shows. His last two dramas Eyes and The Nine didn’t garner large enough ratings to stay on the air, despite widespread critical acclaim.

But I’m not worried about this newest venture. ABC has made this new spinoff, or at least the two-hour special, requisite viewing for any longstanding Grey’s and TV addict. Daly has fans. Me, being one of them. Yes, I still have a crush on Joe Hackett, even though he’s left his Wings far behind him.

Tube News

CBS benches Smith
If you got attached to Smith, I’m sorry. CBS is benching the show “until further notice.” The decision is due to apparent lack of ratings. And here I thought Simon Baker shirtless could solve all ratings challenges. I guess not.

Heroes
Good news for Heroes fans: NBC has ordered a full-season pickup of the fascinating new drama. I think those heroes may be using their superpowers to sway network decisions. If that’s the case, then I’m putting up an SOS for Veronica Mars. Who’s with me? Also, Hiro — my new favorite TV character season — has his own personal blog at NBC, check it out here.

Lost casting news
Nathan Fillion
— that’s Capt. Malcolm Reynolds to you Serenity Brown Coat fans — is set to join Lost for several episodes, according to E!Online Scoop Diva Kristin Veitch. Fillion’s character is intimately connected to Kate. Of course he is, because Sawyer and Jack just aren’t enough to keep that gal busy. Seriously, how do I get Kate’s job?

Tim Daly interview
Former TV stars are popping up on our screens everywhere and in the press. (See the next two blurbs for more.) Tim Daly, forever known to many TV fans as Joe on Wings, has a great interview at TV Guide about his amazing new show The Nine. Check it out. Also, for you former Wings fans, Joe’s brother Brian, actor Steven Weber, is currently starring in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Now, if we can just get a gig somewhere for Helen.

Josh Jackson interview
Pacey Witter fans, former Dawson’s Creek star Josh Jackson did an interesting interview with Media Blvd. Magazine about his movie Aurora Borealis. Check it out here. Boy, do I miss Pacey.

David James Elliot interview
JAG
fans, David James Elliot spoke with TV Guide about his new job on Close to Home and his former role on JAG. Check it out here.

William Shatner game-show host
Denny Crane’s portrayer, William Shatner, is set to host a new trivia-based game show, Show Me the Money, for ABC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Move over Regis, Shatner will soon have as many jobs as that busy show talker.

Josh Jackson and Dean Cain at "Superman Returns" premiere

by Jennifer Squires Biller

Two of my favorite TV guys attended the Superman Returns premiere, and they weren’t alone. Dean Cain, the former man-of-steel, and Josh Jackson, the former Creeker whose-heart-we-want-to-steal, joined a bevy of other TV stars at the event. Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars); Peta Wilson (La Femme Nikita, the original butt-kicking gal of primetime); a blonde Eva Longoria and a blonder Roseanne Barr all came out to see the new film. Check out these photos from Wire Image to see who else couldn’t resist Superman’s return.

Tube News

by Jennifer Squires Biller

Former Dawson’s Creek star heads to CW
You probably remember her as the “hot-blooded” beautiful, bikini-baring blonde who made Dawson wreck his daddy’s speedboat while she was, well…it doesn’t matter. The point is, Brittany Daniel, aka Dawson’s bad girl “Eve,” has landed a role on The CW’s new comedy The Game. The new show is a spin-off of Girlfriends and tells the story of a group of pro-football players and the women who love them, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Daniel previously starred in Sweet Valley High and was once romantically linked to Dawson’s Creek star Josh Jackson. (Insert your own Pacey sports pun here.)

Simon Baker back on the big screen
Former star of The Guardian, Aussie Simon Baker, is soon headed to a theater near you in a new film with Winona Ryder. Loyal Tube Talk readers know I have a thing for Baker and several of his fellow Australian actors. The list is long: Paul Leyden, Julian McMahon, Hugh Jackman, Mel Gibson, Ingo Rademacher and yes, Simon Baker. (It's the accents, I think.) I watched Baker in every episode of The Guardian, despite that it made me want to reach for a bottle of Prozac. Baker is following up his fantastic performance on the big screen in Something New with a new movie called Sex and Death 101. Baker is starring as a man who receives a mysterious e-mail, listing every woman he’s ever slept with — and ever will. (How does one get on that list, you ask? I have no idea.) The film also stars Julie Bowen, Leslie Bibb, Frances Fisher and The Facts of Life’s Mindy Cohn.

The Beek is back and Pacey, too!

Actor James Van Der Beek could be returning to network television in a new CBS political drama. He is currently starring in the pilot Sex, Power, Love & Politics.

Van Der Beek has been absent from the small screen, since his much beloved Creek ran dry in 2003.

Van Der Beek became a fan favorite as loquacious, adolescent-dreamer Dawson Leery on the WB show Dawson’s Creek.

Get the complete story on Van Der Beek’s new pilot at Zap2it http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-pilotcastingvanderbeeklocklear,0,7687900.story?coll=zap-tv-headlines

That’s great news for Dawson fans. But I know what you’re all thinking. Where’s Pacey?

Strangely enough, the two former onscreen pals/rivals will be vying for a slot on the same network. Actor Joshua Jackson, who played Dawson’s best friend/rival Pacey Witter on Dawson’s Creek, is also starring in a new CBS pilot, as previously reported in The Hollywood Reporter http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/television/brief_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001921852.

Jackson’s pilot is a crime drama.

I know. I know. CBS and a crime drama, well, that’s just unheard of.

Will Dawson and Pacey both get picked up on the CBS schedule?

Stay tuned Creek fans.
