Addison Montgomery can’t even get her best friend to be faithful.
When the new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff premieres this fall, Montgomery’s best friend will have a new face: Broadway star Audra McDonald.
Last season, when viewers first met Addison’s best friend, she was played by Alias alum Merrin Dungey. But Dungey is being replaced, according to TV Guide.
Dungey didn’t score rave reviews with fans or execs, who thought she lacked chemistry with the show’s leading lady Kate Walsh.
I loved Dungey on the show Summerland, where she played Lori Loughlin’s best friend, but her character on Grey’s Anatomy was about as exciting as watching paint dry.
Perhaps McDonald will infuse some excitement into the role. I’m a huge fan of McDonald.
The four-time Tony winner has the voice of an angel. Perhaps she’ll teach Addison how to sing the blues.
