Drew Carey the next host of The Price is Right?

If you believe the New York Daily News, TV funny man Drew Carey is the guy who’ll be coming on down to replace Bob Barker as the new host.

Carey must first complete a “full-episode run through” and score high ratings as host of the upcoming game show The Power of 10 next month, according to the story.

Frankly, I’m a bit disappointed if this is in anyway true.

Not that I’ve watched The Price is Right in years, but if I were to tune back in, it wouldn’t be to see Carey. He doesn’t seem slick and sleek enough for the gig. Part of Barker’s charm was that he oozed confidence and always seemed to reassure the contestants with a fun demeanor. I don’t get that vibe from Carey at all.

John O’Hurley, Ian Ziering or George Hamilton seem a better fit.

What do you think? Am I completely wrong here, or would you watch Carey as the new host of The Price is Right?

Consider me tuned out if he lands the job. You're not wrong TTG. He doesn't seem right for the show.

Cleveland, Ohio supports this , that's for sure

Give me George or John, but please make it George. I have stopped what I'm doing just to watch him in a commercial. He will make the women feel like a queen and the men a prince! PRICELESS!

I think Drew would make a great The Price is Right host ! ! !

I think Drew is a much better choice than some of the other names that are out there. He has a common man appeal that I think would work. Bob may have been slick and confident but also was down to earth with the contestants.

I'll watch George or John any day of the week. I think they would match Bob in charisma and they are gorgeous to boot.

No, Drew is kewl, but not a host of the PIR. He is into making jokes and stuff not running the show so people win. I think the perfect choice is the obvious; Rich Fields. He has been the announcer for years, he knows the show, we fans know him, and why not promote from within? Its easier to pic a new announcer than host and we already all love Rich. I say forget everyone else, pic Rich the announcer!

There was the implied thought that Bob might either change his mind, or be asked to stay on for a time. That would be the best thing that could happen. Aside from that, I always thought they were grooming Rich Fields for the job. He's the choice. Not out of work actors.

It would be an insult to the memory of the Price Is Right to have someone as terribly suited for the position as Drew Carey. If anyone out there really thinks he should be the host, they must not have seen very many of the shows he's been on yet. Drew Carey would be like having Pee Wee Herman take over the show.

Put me down for John O'Hurley. Drew's funny, but not right for the Price.

I personally would be very disappointed if he got the job. My sister, a huge fan of the show, is outraged!

Drew would be an awful choice. He has a shady, politically-charged past, and I think this would not fit the image of TPIR. John O'Hurley or Rich Fields get my vote!

Also consider me tuned out he will try to turn it into some comedy act, when he is truely not that funny to begin with. It would be better to just not run the show since he will make the tank.

I have to agree with the majority, I would not watch
Drew Carey on Price is Right! Drew has NO CLASS!
He is one step above Rosie. This show has gone
years with a class act host like Bob Barker. They need to replace with the same. I heard on line
actor J. Eddie Peck was up for the job. Good Choice!!
He hosted miss usa and teen usa and was on all my children and young and the restless for years. I have been watching him on the new show Kyle XY. He has the voice and charm the show needs!

Please say it is'nt true! I cannot believe they would hire Drew Carey for PIR. He does comedy, and it is questionable if it is funny at times. I think he is over-
rated. Come on CBS you have taken this long to replace Bob, now do the right thing, get someone with some charm not someone who can blow the cheese and get some laughs.

I WOULD WATCH , I LOVE DREW!!!

I think Drew would be fun! Who wants the normal boring talk show type anyway?

I totally agree with you. Drew Carey just doesn't fit this bill.
I will not be watching the show, and I watch it daily, while plugging along at the computer working.
He doesn't have the true, old gentleman charm, courtesy, or character!
There is no way this man will last 5 years at this job in my opinion! I'd like to see some young charismatic, gentleman, like Ryan. Someone who wants long term. Not a comedian always looking for a next gig!

I have to agree with the 'non-Drew Carey' people. I think Drew Carey was a horrible choice for the show. First off he's not even that great of a comedian never the less WHY should he be hosting a game show and trying to make everybody laugh? He's to repetitive with his questioning of the contestants. (eg. "Wanna say hi to somebody?"/during the BIG WHEEL Spin; "Come over here man!"/even the women hear it)

If you think Drew Carey is horrible you should check out www.americahatesdrew.com its a site complaining all the complaints about Drew and sending them to CBS.
